Dr. Kristine Eaton is the Assistant Director of the Indiana School Mental Health Initiative, Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University. Dr. Eaton consults and collaborates with K-12 school districts across Indiana to create an integrated framework of tiered mental health services and supports to meet the needs of the whole child.

Degrees
Dr. Eaton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Calvin College, a Master of Science in Social Work degree from Indiana University, and a Doctor of Education degree from Northcentral University. Dr. Eaton is also a licensed clinical social worker.

Personal Statement
Dr. Eaton has over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health and education. She is passionate about mental health for all, including the elimination of mental health stigma through education and training. Other practice specialties include youth suicide prevention; social determinants of health; school crisis prevention, response, and intervention; and educator wellness. She has created numerous school district policies, procedures, and programs including suicide prevention, multi-tiered systems of support, and crisis response teaming.

Research Interests
Dr. Eaton’s research interests include preservice teacher training on classroom management, trauma responsive classrooms, and educator wellness. Dr. Eaton is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar Fellow and her research fellowship is focused on educator secondary traumatic stress, resiliency, and peer facilitated support.
